The Bass Busters of Santa Clara County held the August tournament at Clear Lake on the night of the 16th. This was a pick your partner team tournament. We had 10 boats came back with 61 fish with 8 of the ten boats brining in the 7 fish limit. The 61 fish weighed in, had a total weight of 129.46 lbs (2.12 lb average).
Congratulations to Henry Silva and his wife Diane for their first place finish of 7 fish for a total weight of 24.86 lbs including the big fish of the tournament caught by Diane, a nice 6.18 lb'er. Their fish came from fishing 10" lizards and worms. Nice job Henry and Diane!
Second place went to Rene Duzac and Eric Chikasuye with another nice 7 fish limit of 18.46 lbs. Their fish came on brush hogs, cranking and spinner baits.
John Neibel and his guest Don rounded out the top three with a 15.64 lb limit of 7 fish. John and Don caught their fish with rattle traps and drop shotting Aaron's magic worms around rock piles.
4th went to Joe Costa and John Fernandez also with a 7 fish limit of 14.12 lbs. John and Joe took their fish with red craw and shad colored crank baits. Joe Costa also managed to catch 2nd big fish of the tournament with a nice 6.16 lb bucket mouth.
Kyle Mulhair and Arnold Esparza finished 5th with 12.64 lbs for their 7 fish limit. Arnold caught their big fish of 3.48 lbs just an hour before the weigh in on a chartreuse buzz bait. The rest of the limit came on motor oil with red fleck senko's.
6th place was taken by Francisco Segoviano and his cousin Hector Segoviano. Using speed traps and jigging black and blue jigs they landed another 7 fish limit of 11.76 lbs.
Steve Irving and Joe Aichroth captured 7th with 7 fish for 9.46 lbs. They caught their fish on crank baits, drop shotting and senko's.
8th went to Danny Dempsey and Rick Marquardt with a final weight of 6.52 lbs. They had a nice 7 fish limit of 12.72 lbs but had a 6.2 lbs dead fish penalty when they discovered their live well pump malfunctioned. Their fish came on senko's.
Jeff Hawkins and Joe Heylan took 9th with 2 fish for 5.14 lbs. Both their fish were taken using buzz baits.
Rounding out the top 10 was Steve Lobrovich and his son Michael with 3 fish of 4.66 lbs.
The September 13th tournament is on the Delta out of Ladds and it is an individual draw format tournament. You need to show up to the club meeting at the IHOP's in Cupertino on Steven's Creek Blvd near the 280 ramp if you're interested in joining the club. The meeting is held on the first Thursday of the month (Sept. 4th). See you all there! Safe boating and good hook sets to all.
